Stefan Baumann Mountain Goats in Glacier National Park
Artist’s Comments
I am fascinated by the amazing courage that the Glacier Park Mountain Goats have. When I painted this painting from my imagination, I visualized the breathtaking scenery they inhabit and the steep cliffs that they call home. I remember once seeing an adult goat scurry up the side of a cliff wall and a youngster followed in his footsteps without hesitation. Then both the adult and the young goat climbed up and over the vertical cliff to the high peaks beyond.
I understand that even though the instinct they have to survive in these cliffs is part of their DNA, their survival is also helped by having an adult who leads by example. In my life, I have had many adults who have helped me and artists who have inspired me. I hope that my work will inspire young artists to climb the cliffs of life and reach their highest potential.
