Grand Canyon North Rim
Artist’s Comments
The North Rim of The Grand Canyon is one of my favorite places to paint. The North Rim is less visited than the more popular South Rim, and since its location is remote, the visitors that come here often stay a week. After painting all morning, I returned to the lodge feeling disappointed that the light was flat. But, then it occurred to me that not every painting must have a grand lighting effect. I thought, “Why not just paint the noon light?” So, with my thumb box in hand, I went to this rocky point and captured what I saw.
