Join Stefan Baumann, the host of the PBS series THE GRAND VIEW, for a weekend of painting in beautiful Mt. Shasta and at The Grand View Ranch. By day, you will discover the secrets of painting hidden lakes, vast meadows, grand trees, sunsets, and the famous summit of Mt. Shasta herself. In the evening, we conclude the day by sharing and critiquing all the paintings participants made that day. You will learn Baumann’s philosophies of painting, composition, color, value, and many helpful hints about plein air painting.
Stefan will also discuss “The Power To Create,” which includes his views on art and his experiences behind the scenes of his popular television series. He is committed to providing and demonstrating valuable and useful insights, techniques, and practices to enhance each participant’s experience at the workshop.
Welcome to my world!
Hey, this is Stefan, and I want to “officially” welcome you to my world. I grew up in Lake Tahoe, California, running around the wood of its beautiful forests. The landscape influenced my thinking. I ended up studying art and architectural history at Stanford after high school. I continued my studies at the San Francisco Academy of Art University during which I created Baumann Fine Art, a business enterprise that promoted landscape painting. I have been an artist and an oil painting instructor for the past 35 years. And this is what I believe: Anyone can learn how to paint, all it takes is desire.
My goal is to help you become the best version of the artist you can be. I really mean that. Therefore, I will be making it very easy for you to become that version of yourself. Here’s what I’m going to do…For now, I will let you have one of my most valuable products for free. Yes, I do not want money from you for this product because my goal is to see you grow! Let’s talk about your art and how I can make a difference. Call me at 415-606-9074.
It’s my gift to you for making this one little step that you just took. This gift will give you the push that you’re looking for. Is that okay?
Thanks,
Stefan “Your New Painting Guide” Baumann

Above is a collection of some of the paintings done by one student, Carrie Taves, during a three-day Baumann workshop in Mt Shasta. It’s not uncommon for students to do 8 to 10 paintings in three days.
The Grand View Ranch is an “Artist’s Refuge in the Mountains.” The ranch is located on 10 acres of protected mountainside land with spectacular views of Mt Shasta. This photo is of Mount Shasta in Winter Snow from The Grand View Ranch, near the quaint and scenic town of Mount Shasta City. Our Ranch inspires an ongoing commitment to the care and preservation of mountain flora and fauna—enabling our guests to enjoy the natural surroundings of this tranquil retreat. Ecologically diverse, The Grand View Ranch has a mix of California trees such as dogwood, pine, fir, cypress, and oak forest. Moreover, it offers stunning views of Mount Shasta and the Eddies. This creates a peaceful atmosphere with many inspiring views to paint.
Located in Northern California, The Grand View Ranch Artist’s Retreat is located near beautiful small towns located in the Cascade mountains. Its elevation is 4,000 feet, making it a comfortable environment year-round. Activities such as skiing, hiking, river rafting, mountain climbing, golfing, and a host of other activities are available to visitors. Mount Shasta, a city in Siskiyou County, California, is where “heaven and earth meet” and the water is the purest in the world. The city is about 3,600 feet above sea level and is near the flanks of the volcano called Mount Shasta, a prominent northern California landmark.
